Why Do I Need a Aprilaire Humidifier?

If you are considering purchasing a humidifying system for your home, such as an Aprilaire Humidifier, there are some things you may want to know so you are confident you have made the right choice for your family.

You may ask yourself: Do I really need a humidifier in my home? If you live in an area where the weather is dry any part of the year, the answer would be yes, an Aprilaire Humidifier would be a unit just as important as your heater or air conditioner. You can know whether or not you need an Aprilaire Humidifier by asking yourself just a few questions.

• How do you feel when you wake up in the morning? If your eyes, nose and/or throat are dry, the air is dry.
• Do you find that you experience shocks from static electricity when shuffling to the kitchen for a snack? Static electricity thrives in dry conditions.
• Do you notice that you reach for the lotion more often than you feel should be necessary?

Answering yes to any of these questions means that you could benefit from a system like the Aprilaire Humidifier.

As an evaporative humidifier, the Aprilaire Humidifier uses a natural evaporation process to bring humidity to the air inside your home. This is different than misting the air like a vaporizer would do. The humidity that is created is a gas, and therefore will easily pass through any air cleaner that may be used in the home.

Although the humidity that is released into the air in your home is a gas, an Aprilaire Humidifier does use water to create the moisture in the air. The water panel contained inside of an Aprilaire Humidifier is one that only needs to be replaced once a year. Most people change their water panel either right before or right after the winter heating season.

Some people are unsure of whether to use their Aprilaire Humidifier with hot water or cold water. This is a very good question, and the answer is that this humidifier can be used with either hot or cold water effectively. Hot water actually increases the amount of humidity that will be released into the air. So if the air is particularly dry where you live, hot water may be the best option. In order for a humidifier to work, it needs either hot water or hot air. This is another thing to keep in mind, as you will need to know which to use. An Aprilaire Humidifier that is installed on return ductwork should be connected to hot water, as this will be the heat source utilized.

Since you cannot buy an Aprilaire Humidifier at the local home improvement store, any and all questions that you may come up with can be answered by a company representative who has first hand knowledge of the particular product you are purchasing. Since this is an investment into you home as well as into the well-being of you and your family, it is important to ask any questions you have.
